Shelby and I rescued each other. I had recently lost both of my dogs within 4 months of each other. I was devastated. They were 17 and 18 years old and were my world. Shelby’s owner had just passed away. She was 6 years old and was so sad, not knowing where her owner was. She was adorable and love at first sight. I don’t know which one of us needed each other the most. Shortly after we found each other I was informed by my vet that she had congestive heart disease and we placed her on meds right away to slow down the inevitable and give her the best life possible. We were fortunate to have almost 4 years together before her sweet little heart just couldn’t sustain her any longer. She was too young, so very sweet and as my vet described her “very stoic”. She went through so much but she never gave up and was always so happy….the light of my life! She just loved life and people so much. Shelby was an amazing soul! My vet told me about Lighthouse and I made the decision to have Dr. Nancy come to our home and helped Shelby find the peace she so deserved. There is no easy way, but Nancy was wonderful and so glad she was there for both of us. I miss Shelby so much every day…..my beautiful, sweet, little baby boo ❤️🐾🙏
