Chewie
Maria and Kade BK
Chewie came into our family a tired, skinny and scared little boy from a field outside of Bozeman. He immediately had his dad, Kade, in his sights when they walked into Heart of the Valley shelter. He knew Kade was a sucker right away. His mom, Maria, didn’t know it yet, but her husband picked out her soul dog that day. Even though he was shaky, pink, and hairless, Kade knew immediately that he was a missing part of our dog pack. With love, support, and kindness from both of his parents and his new brother Murphy, Chewie quickly came out of his shell and showed his stubborn, bright, and adventurous personality. He may have tried to escape the day we brought him home, but he immediately knew he was safe. Whether on hikes with his mom, lying in a dirt hole in the yard, ripping the hearts out of his bear toys, or going to a Mariners game, Chewie brought such a light into our lives. He will always be remembered as an adventurer, a survivor, and an amazing brother to his three furry siblings. While he may not be here physically, he will always have a place in our hearts. Words can’t express our gratitude to him for all of the joy that he brought us. We miss you, Chewie!
